Financial Independence update August 2021

Observations:
Largely symbolical landmark of $800K for my portfolio.   I anticipate a market correction in the near future, but still happy to see the absolute number.
It took five years to cross $200 K mark, four $300K and next four to breach $500K. If in the next 10 years I can double the money while having $1 million in 2008 money I will consider myself on track, without exceeding expectations.
Past financial independence performance:
Financial independence Net Worth past 12 years

The networth figures were taken at the end of December in each year, so time will only tell what 2021 figure is.
I expect, after the large (for French industry) Australian submarines contract for was shifted to the USA, French politics might become more assertive, leading to a stronger EUR next year.

The so-called West largely forgot how to manage high inflation and they are sitting, doing very little.  The COVID19 pandemic triggered some early retirements and middle class to poor people reassessed their work-life balance.  This will lead to low and uneducated labour shortages in the next year or two. This will continue until another crisis will move more people to the poverty.

Random ramblings. The value of time comes from your ability to spend it with the people you care about most.  Today economy is moving back with more people working weekends, outside of the normal working hours.  “Effective managers” bothering their subordinates all the time via messengers and emails. Over 20% of population in the West are working shift work. There is ample evidence that shift work damages their health, especially if they rotate between days and nights. There is no extra pay for night shifts in the west. The risks of shifts are mental illness, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal problems. On top of it are divorces, of course.
