Financial independence - monthly update September 2015
Observations:
-         Vanguard emerging markets returning approximately 6% at the current price, while S&P500 returns 1.9%.
-         Gazprom is under severe pressure in Western Europe, as they are aim to secure natural gas cheaply. This is crucial as scandal in the Netherlands is growing due to earthquakes are being linked to the natural gasp production and public opinion leaning towards demanding the production shutdown.  For that reason they initiated investigation and the perceived risk of the annual 10% revenue the shares are down.
-         Year on year drop is $46K USD + $50K invested over the last 12 months.  There is three main contributors : Gazprom shares ~$54 K , EUR to USD lost 15% or $38K USD, GBP to USD lost 7% or $4K USD.

  1. I was tempted to buy Rosneft and Gazprom myself. Both were beaten into submission by the market. Just like anything in Russian sector of the economy actually, including Yandex, Russian version of Google.

Come back and make another post!

    1. Hi Financial Underdog,
Thank you for stopping by. I am believer in he market, so if they a beaten up a little bit, there must be a reason for it. Looking now it is evident that Rosnfet & Gazprom like the rest of the energy companies are going to struggle.
I agree, should there be more transparency and optimism towards Russia the companies would be evaluated higher. That is why towards my financial independence I start diversifying more towards western Europe, not only the USA and emerging markets.
